Dear fellow traders, customers and friends as many of you already know yesterday was my last day trading in the Green Door market.
It’s been 12 1/2 years since our friends Deirdre O’Sullivan, Norman Kenny set up the market with myself and my wife Mary.
Although hard work at times, I think we succeeded in making the Green Door a place where you you could find great produce great producers and a fun place to shop.
I would particularly like to thank Pat, Gerda and Kasia for working with me to make sure our customers got the best possible food served them with a smile(and very often a laugh).
I’m really happy that they are going to stay on and work with Tracy and Cormac Loonam who are taking over my stall.
I would also like to thank my fellow traders and customers who have made the market such a fun place to work for many years.
Although I won’t have a fruit and veg stall in the Market anymore, I will for immediate future be carrying on to run the Green Door with Ben Kenny from Nurney farm.
Even after that, I will carry on being a customer because I believe the Green Door is not only the best farmers market in Dublin. It’s also one of the best small markets anywhere.

Christy Stapleton, from Kiltegan Village, Co. Wicklow, grows and sells organic vegetables, fruit, organic wheatgrass and micro greens. He also sources a wide range of organic produce from local growers. While he endeavours to source as much as possible of his produce locally, as we all know there are fruits and vegetables that won’t grow in Ireland. In order to provide his customers with a full range at the best possible price he also imports organic produce from around the world.
This means his customers can purchase a wide variety of fresh, quality, organic fruit and vegetables. Christy and his team really enjoy working in the Green Door market and they have a particular interest in making sure their customers have a great shopping experience. We are here on Thursday from 12pm to 7 pm, Saturday from 9am to 4pm and Sundays we are closed.
